Time to finish up the winter season

Sky Tavern Gear Return Schedule, May 8,9 &10

Registration for 2024-2025 is open.

Time to clean out your garage of that gear you rented, borrowed, or whatever from Sky Tavern to use this season. Colin is coming to town to make returning easier.

Wednesday, May 8th, 4- 7 PM McQueen High School

Thursday, May 9th, 4-7 PM Reed High School

Friday, May 10th, 4-7 PM Galena High School

We will be at each location with the Sky Tavern truck, trailer, and shuttle bus to haul all the gear back to the hill to get it ready for next season.

Please show up with all the stickers or tape removed and buckle the boots.

We will have zip ties to put the poles and boots in pairs. A bit of a warning. Finding the truck at McQueen and Galena is usually simple, At Reed parking by the ATM is the plan, but sometimes we have to use the other lot. Just find us. We will be there, honest.

This takes a bit of effort and time to check in each set, but is more convenient than driving back to Sky to give them back. It also gives me a chance to ask how the season went for you and find out what you are doing this summer. Everyone is still family.

If you don't bring the gear back you are going to get harassed until you do by the company grandmother. If you duck her, you might see a charge on your credit card you agreed to when you picked up the gear. We really need this gear back to make other kids happy next winter, beides your kids will have grown out of it by Thanksgiving.

It takes Colin most of the summer to retune and repair a couple thousand skis and boards so give him a hand by returning it now, please but if you need to make other arrangements for returns, like one more day on the slopes at Palisades, just drop Colin a note.

Colin is starting up already.

Returning members get first notice of open registration. Returning SkyKid parents please get signed up so we know how many spots we have for new SkyKids.

If spreading out some payments makes joining back up easier, just contact Lythia in the office and she can set a payment plan up. It is no problem at all or click the class below to get started.

From town, it looks like Sky Tavern could still be open. The closer you get the uglier it gets. Even with four inches of surprise snow on Saturday, creeks and springs are breaking through. The main slopes will have snow on them for some time, while the base area and aspens should be back to grass by the end of the week. This is that time when not enough snow for snowcats and too much for trucks.

As it heats up, water is running wherever gravity takes it. The crew is working on the chairlifts wearing waders and ducks are landing in the parking lot. It is mud season in more than name only. It is goop out there.

I didn't get a lot of results from the end-of-season survey but what I did get is find a way to get kids to the water tank. That is an expensive sentence but working on it. Just need to find a way to get one more lift, maybe two.

Once again thanks for making 24 happen. A late start, missed a few extras but all in all a good season. We have videos of kids having fun and that is all that matters. Watch for news about summer events, bike classes, and more, soon.

Barn raisings are fun and importantThanks again for all your efforts. And thanks for the last two decades. It has been lots of work, lots of fun but mostly lots of the best people one could hope to create something lasting with.
