I am behind on getting this out since a shovel and the loader are my new companions. Just lost a day in there somewhere. No comments about my mental state, please. LOL.

The weekend looks good for Week 4 to happen. There is plenty of snow!

Bill

The storm was everything it was hyped up to be. Lots of wind, lots of snow. We are calling it 84 inches. There are places with three feet where the wind stripped it down, and others where a drift is fifteen feet high. Enough snow fell to fill in the double black diamond slope right outside the lodge the SkyKids were trying to navigate. The moral of the story, we are good on snow now.

I have written enough updates titled Week 4 to fill a small book. Things can always change but Week 4 skiing and riding is finally a few days away. If you bought a bus ticket for last week, it is good for this week. Otherwise you know what to do below.

The difference between Sky Tavern and learning to ski on your own is education. Some of that education is other pieces to the puzzles of snowsports not just correct turns. An important part is learning to do all this fun stuff in the snow safely. Last time I added a little blurb about chairlifts. This time, because of the storm, it is tree wells.

Tree wells are bad. Tree wells are the hole in the snow right around the base of the tree. Getting stuck in one can be life-threatening. Not to try to scare anyone but I need to be serious here. Unless you are qualified, stay on the groomer runs. If you do go out in the powder, stay with a buddy. Two go in and two come out, every time. Whistles are not a bad idea in a kid's gear.

Learn more here on our Ski and Board Safely Page. Tree well info is down under snow safety. The video is a bit scary. It has to be. Watch it then talk to your kids. Find them a buddy to ride with. Safe skiing is fun skiing.

All the kids know they are supposed to love skiing in powder. It is inherent to the sport. It is all skiers talk about, powder. Just please be ready and then have fun. I will be out there riding too.

The guys up at Sky have been working 12 to 72-hour shifts to stay ahead of snow and when it stopped to start the digging. We are not ready yet but getting there. Just some images of what Sky Tavern got and where we are at. We should be able to tell the stories when we are skiing this weekend.
