To the coaches, athletes, and parents of High School Alpine Racing,
I just want to thank and congratulate you on a great initial NIAA Ski Season here. It has been a goal of mine to have all high school alpine racing here at Sky Tavern since my kids were racing for Galana High School years ago. None of my kids played any ball and stick sports but they all raced and that was very much them being a part of something, succeeding and growing up here in Nevada. As a parent, I saw firsthand how alpine racing as a high school sport matters and I strongly want to continue to support it and give it a home at Sky Tavern.
It took a few years of talking to make this happen and we did get off to a literally bumpy start because of snow, but everyone worked, and in the end, I think it was a season well worth repeating. Further construction on the next phase in our snowmaking system this summer will make the early season much smoother. My promise to you.
Many of you know that after the snowmaking system is complete our next big project is planned to be lights. This would allow training during the early evening and late afternoons and keep kids in class. I am going to ask a favor. I could use letters of support for this project to give to Washoe County. The public support may be what tips the scales in our favor, and if you have a moment maybe a comment on this season and what else we need to do going forward.
Thank you all again. You made a dream of mine come true before I go.
Sincerely,
Bill Henderson
