January 4, 2024
Since writing a check at the grocery store is a thing of the past, this was the first time I wrote "2024". Took me twice to get it right.
New Schedule as of this morning January 4th
Friday, January 5th 9-Noon High School Race Teams, Sky Tavern Race Team
Saturday, January 6th 9-Noon. High School Race Teams, Sky Tavern Race Team
Sunday, January 7th all day. Certified Instructors, Veteran Instructors Training
Veteran Instructors. Those that have been here in previous seasons. Not certified but not newbies at all this teaching. You know who you are.
This pushes NEW INSTRUCTOR TRAINING back a week to the 13/14th, tentatively! (dislike that word but necessary)
* All instructors should have received an invite from FLAIK. Step 1 is please create an account. More later once some instructors are in.
From the Instructor's boss, Eric
So after much discussion, I want to have training on Sunday only this weekend. ( Dress accordingly.. predicted to be 19 degrees.).
We need more snow... arriving Saturday afternoon.. hopefully.
So on Sunday, returning veteran member instructors and Certified Instructors should be at the lodge 9 am.
Freestyle has a presentation for the team. This is required for being in the terrain park.
Where we are at:
There are children out there who are not doing their part to make it snow. We still have gotten more than most places, but not enough to make it a go on more than one carpet lift.
I'm going to say it again. This is much more normal than anyone remembers after last season. What happens next is we either get snow 6 inches at a time for a few weeks or three feet at once. Been like that for the 20 years I have been clearing the deck.
No matter what, Mike and the grooming crew will push snow around and we will get open when they say good to go. Just so you understand, once it snows, it takes days of work to make Sky Tavern usable. It will happen, always does. But if snow happens on a Friday, even the Sky Tavern Supergroomer Team needs some time to make the slopes ready for kids. Watch the emails, please.
Stand by for liftoff
Everything is tentative. We need to hold new instructors training weekend, then Dryland training weekend for new kids and parents followed by the official start, Week 1. It all depends on snow. We only have one snow gun hooked up to water, but that gun has made enough snow to get the Webster base area open. Maybe next year we will laugh at the problem when the who;e system is built.
