No buses on Saturday. The last bus rides of 2023 are on Sunday. Get those last tickets here.

PSIA/AASI testing happened last weekend. We are hearing that the failure rate for first-time testees is 50% or more. Not at Sky. 100% got their pins. Look at those happy faces. (One is missing from the photo but that is what Photoshop is for.)

Week 8, Saturday & Sunday

Wear your Halloween Costume once more.

Not my idea. Some 10-year-olds. I listened.

Week 8 is usually line up for classes and have games, races, or whatever the instructors can come up with. Time for a good time. I will bet that those brand-new Certified Instructors would even look at some kids if they just really need to get to that next level. That group did a lot of extra work to become certified and getting to pass a few kids will make it all worth it. Go Ask! Get Punched!

Incredibly good sport, Mayor Hillary Schieve stopped by last Sunday. She came down from the top of Sky Ridge in a Ski Patrol toboggan with Tom Raw in charge. I don't have enough you knows to do that. Have you skied with Tom? Pictures on Facebook. She has always been a Sky Tavern supporter, but now a bigger one!

Special Guests have been invited for Saturday.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and three-time Olympic medalist and former Sky Tavern SkyKid David Wise are both invited for Saturday. The Senator will be taking a tour of all the kids having fun and seeing if she can help in any way. Corban will be relieved that David cannot defend his Sky downhill race title since he is nursing a knee.

I need a favor. I want the Senator to see our opening ceremony, the National Anthem, and the raising of the flag. Doing that means a lot to me personally every morning and I am pretty sure we are the last group to do it short of professional sports. Let's stay up by the flag and do it right, please, for me.

I am an old fashion guy and this still makes me wipe a tear or two. Those kids have grown!

The snow was melting and then today it snowed. It was like that last-ditch effort of a drowning man for Old Man Winter. Just had to get one more in. The snow turned to goo this past weekend, never got above 25 degrees Monday or Tuesday. Pick one.

Sky Tavern received 584 inches of snow. Almost four times normal. GM Mike is going to cry if we don't get 16 more for a perfect 50 feet.

Lost & Found is growing again. Stop adding to it. Come find your stuff. There are 36 right-hand gloves. You have the left behind the back seat in Mom's car. Come get this stuff because soon it gets boxed and sold at Ski Swap.

Thanks for all the help and kind words. It has been an uphill year in a downhill sport. There is not a lot left of me and my gang. I think SkyKid Mom, Kris, has the right idea here. Time to trade in footwear.

This is something I have wanted to write for a few weeks and time to get on with it. It is a huge thank you.

It doesn't matter if you work in the kitchen, the parking lot, the lifts, or instruct, you are all a part of making Sky Tavern happen. And because it is what it is and it works, I got to do the coolest thing, ski the steepest run we have with my 6-year-old granddaughter, Stella. Because of all your efforts, I got to see her rip a line that was so pretty, so perfect, so amazing. She was having a blast showing off to me, telling me to hurry up, asking why I was so tired, and then telling her Mom that Granddad sort of remembers how to ski. Now she takes this place for granted. That this is just the way and place everyone plays, but I never will. That memory of her skiing would have never happened without Sky Tavern, without you.

Thank you, and please keep taking care of it. Sky Tavern matters. The next generation needs it to be here for them.
