Go for Saturday and Sunday

( Always watch for early morning weekend emails)

It looks good for both days this weekend. The approaching storm gets here after we shut down for the weekend according to the group with the satellites. Maybe some snow during the weekend but not enough to stop us. Come ski. Baseball is starting up, which let’s face it, is the anti-skiing sport. Just kidding, but not really. We lose kids pretty fast once that song about peanuts plays.

The schedule right now. Open next Saturday, April 8thCLOSED SUNDAY APRIL 9th for Easter. Each time we have opened for Easter we have gotten huge pushback and complaints. It is hard to get anyone here to help, so I fold. Besides, it is not like we are going to run out of snow anytime soon. After that, we will keep going through the end of the month and maybe a little longer. It all depends on what everyone wants and is willing to work for. This has been the strangest weather season any of us have ever seen, so I would like to give everyone what they are willing to create. Chime in. What do you want to do? info@skytavern.com.

Rusty Crook. His passing was not unexpected but still touched a great many of us. There will be a short service Saturday at 12:30 by the aspens in his memory. That more stories are told is a certainty.

Unofficial Mt. Rose tribute

This past week was a busy one. We started with race camps but had a weather hold because of the storm. The big event was the Pisten Bully North American Sales Conference. It was the first time all the snow groomer sales folks have come together in one place and that place was here at Sky Tavern. There were technical seminars, on-hill demos, lots of great food, good times, and getting to know everyone. The volunteers and staff of Sky did what they always do for groups and weddings by going over the top to make sure this partner, their statement, had an amazing event. Who else would make a snowcat out of cheese or mint boxes?

You are going to hear much more about PB in the coming months and seasons. Sky Tavern was given this opportunity because of Sky Tavern GM Mike O’s relationship with the management at Pisten Bully. This is a game-changer for the future.

One quick story. The marketing guy for PB was in the same position at Palisades previously. He was told to win the NSAA Conversion Cup. Almost a hundred grand in new programs and equipment later, they didn’t. He was standing by the fireplace getting a drink Wednesday night and saw our Conversion Cup. His comment was “So that’s what it looks like.” If you don’t know the story it is here. It is a huge industry award. You did this.

Mike O wants more snow! We are at 565 inches for the season. He wants 601, so 36 more ordered. I am fine with 566. He has a snowcat to move it around. I have a shovel.

Many more stories, but no more space. Get up here.
