Sky Tavern has the same size population of a small town. On any given weekend that town will have births, anniversaries, Bar Mitzvahs, Quinceañeras or any other number of family celebrations. It will also have accidents, deaths, illness and breakups. The sewer will back up, the power grid will fail and the roads will not handle the traffic. School buses won’t start but a kid will pass a test they were dreading. The town’s old fire truck will be replaced by a shiny new one. Some people will move in while others will move out. Neighbors will quarrel over backyard fences. That is called a community.

Sky Tavern is made up of the mostly fiercely proud and passionate stakeholders ever locked together in one small valley. We all do amazing things for each other, our kids and the big city down the hill. Rarely does anyone have bad memories of their time at Sky Tavern because there is not one of us that ever does something to harm our little community. We do our best, we argue amongst ourselves, we move on after listening to each other and then maybe get rid of that old car in the driveway that was never going to get back running.

Passion breeds opinions. Sometimes heels get dug into the dirt over those views. Sometimes we don’t agree. Without the mayor proposing that tax increase that new fire truck might never be delivered. Without the truck, the neighbor’s barn doesn’t survive the lighting strike.

I just want to say this is a community I am extremely proud to be part of. I have spent over twenty years here as a parent and grandparent, always trying to work harder than the Mom or Dad next to me and always focusing on the kids. So if we don’t get that new fire truck and the barn does burn, let’s all get back together and raise a new one.

Have a fun weekend. It is going to be a doozy!
