Eric Ruud is the head of snowsport training at Sky Tavern. He is a level 2 PSIA and has been with Sky Tavern since before our chairlifts. This is a part of his letter to the CI's. CIs are certified instructors with Professional Ski Instructor of America (PSIA) certifications. We can get you certified too!

Schedule at a glance for Saturday and Sunday

9- 10:30 am. Dryland training for new to snow kids.
9 am and ongoing all day will be support member orientation for non-instructing adult members. This is only for 1 hour.

From Eric Ruud:

Good evening everyone,

This is updated information regarding the Dryland and Member Instruction training this coming weekend.

Dryland Training at Sky Tavern this weekend. Starting at 9:00 am on the snow, primarily in the areas by the aspens (Snowboard) and the "playground" area, (Ski).

This Dryland should be completed by 10:20-10:30 am It typically last about an hour. Some members will remain the work on their new skills, and this will allow those members to move up faster when the program begins. The scanning should be working well enough to upload those members progressive punches.

Member Instructor training on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 9:00 am with the meeting then until 2:00 pm or 3 pm on the snow. There will be a lunch break. Free slope time after training if they or you want to, the lifts will run until 4 pm.
For the Member Instructor Training:  The Member Instructor training, for new and returning instructors, will start in the main area of the lodge. This meeting will also be for those instructors' who did NOT attend the CI's training... I expect this meeting to last about one hour and then the Member instructors will move on onto the snow about 10:20 - 10:30 am.

There will be far more newer instructors and work together as you always do to make the groups and their abilities complementary. Also, many of these members have NOT been on the slope this year., so make to confirm if they have been on the snow this year and adjust accordingly.

The slopes will be improved by the weekend, the alligator ribs will be gone, the runs wider and smoother. Please make sure to take the members for a run on the back trail and explain how that can be used for teaching. Also refrain from using the term " Chicken Chute" for the exit back to the lodge. I have been using the terms left run and right run or tree run and open run or just chute.

We will try to have the flag banners up for the groups.
The other groups will also be on the hill.

My goal is to open the program on January 15th.

Thanks, everyone! Your patience is appreciated.
