Sky Tavern
December 10, 2021
It is going to snow next week!
Open Snow Forecast for the coming week.

Mack, Marty, Dave and Logan putting tracks on the snowcats. That is how you know the weather is changing.

Wednesday, Dec 15th Support Member & General Orientation

Thursday, December 16th The Adaptive Department is getting together.

Both nights are in the California Building, Idlewild Park at 7 PM.

Sky Tavern Hockey is back

This was us playing with a construction light last season in the base area. Real lights are in the works.

And on the topic of construction, NDOT is closing the Mt.Rose Hwy at Sky Tavern this weekend until Monday. They are replacing the culvert under the road right at where to old lift tower is. To get to Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe you get to drive through Incline. Paul, GM at Rose, is not amused about his opening weekend. Our neighbors need a break.

You can hike from here, but there is only 3 inches of snow so it will be a two way trek.

For those of you coming up for rental gear, the road is to be open to our parking lot.

The end of the indoor orientation meetings is Wednesday and Thursday the 15th and 16th.

Wednesday is for all the adults that are not instructors, Support Members. We will talk about all the other positions up here that need to get done. The sign-up sheet/website for those positions will be out next week. Please remember there is zip here for a staff. All that stuff that gets done at a Vail resort by someone in uniform is Mom and Dad here. There are some folks that have done the same job for years. Maybe we can get them to stop by Wednesday to talk a little to the new members.

General talk is at 7 and then bust up into groups by different departments. Those departments will try to convince you to come work with them. We are going to record this as well so you can see the orientation part if you miss it.

Instructors! If you went to any of the orientation nights please comment right/wrong. Did it work? Please email skiwithrichard@yahoo.com

Our Adaptive Department gets the California Building, Thursday the 16th, to hold their get the group together night. This is just for adaptive so Greg and his group can meet everyone and make a plan for 2021. If you are signed up in adaptive, please stop by. There is still a little space so if you know a child with a disability that never thought they could get on snow, these guys can change that. Come find out how.

You are going to see more adaptive sports at Sky Tavern in the coming years. We are very actively looking for adults that would like to be adaptive instructors. There is always a greater need than we can cope with to teach adaptive sports. We will be holding adaptive clinics on Fridays once the season starts to create more instructors.
adaptive@skytavern.com for more info. Please spread the word.

The Sky Tavern App

We are having some issues with Apple right now regarding our app. If you have it loaded it still works but Apple pulled it until we redo it again to their liking. It is in the Playstore for android. Stand by and we will figure out what the most cash-rich company in the world wants from us. LOL.

Sky Tavern Hockey
Mike Selby has been out all week getting the pond open for hockey. He says they are going to play Friday night and Saturday. Check out the schedule here. He built this for the kids but I see him skating on it a bunch! Come on up before the snowstorm or after to help shovel the pond out. I crash so no more skating.

If you ever wonder what Sky Tavern spends money on, here is a $1500 new tire chain for the loader. It has four wheels but we only bought two new chains this year. Got to have them to plow snow. And we are going to be plowing snow by Monday!

SkyKids and Snowboarding Freestyle are filled up. Prices will increase when there is skiable snow which might be very soon. We are trying to hold the prices down as low as possible. Donations offset costs by a huge percentage. Thank you donors.
