Sky Tavern NEWS - Board of Directors Annual Meeting

  • Sunday, 1st August, 2021
  • 11:12am

This is the meeting the Board elects one-half of the board seats and sets the executive committee, chair, vice-chair, secretary, and treasurer. Also on the table are the plans for the coming year and what has been done in the past year. There will be a public comment period at the opening of the meeting plus informal chats with food before. Being a member staffed organization, if there are comments, concerns, or great ideas about Sky Tavern please make a point to attend and be heard.

If you have something for the board but cannot attend please email info@skytavern.com and it will be delivered.

Being on the board is one of the hardest jobs here. All have deep roots in Sky Tavern and the community. Jim Carnahan is retiring from the board after 20 years of service. Please come thank him.

INSTRUCTORS, SAVE THE DATE
Sunday, August 15th. BBQ Lunch at Sky Tavern. 11 AM start time

PSIA/AASI members, ski and snowboard instructors. JR instructors and SkyKid parent instructors.

Time to figure out how we are going to top winning the Conversion Cup!  We will feed you if you will spend a little time getting together, exchanging some ideas, and talking about what is coming up. Snowsports Director Eric will be sending out a little more about this along with an RSVP sign-up very soon. Winter is not that far away!

Weddings, lots of weddings in the aspens including Sky Tavern member superstars Corbin and Anna on July 10th.
This has been coming for longer than they will admit! Congratulations.

School starts soon, but there are still camp opportunities here with Skiing is Believing and Project Discovery. It is cooler and less smoky at 7200 feet.

The 2022 Sky Tavern Junior Ski Program season registration is open. There will be some changes for the coming season, the price is one of them. Everything is going up and snowcats use A LOT of fuel. Get the best deal now.

Bike Trails
There are lots of new bike trails, an easy way up, and more fun ways down. Try High Fives from the start of Barney’s to the bottom of 6 Hill. There is lots of adaptive action on this trail including clinics this weekend sponsored by the City of Reno and Renown

The last thing!
We are looking for some help.

We have some new projects and finishing up some old ones. We need a grading contractor that likes mountain biking and an electrical contractor that maybe likes freestyle skiing. To help please contact the office or bill.henderson@skytavern.com

During the Rib Cook-off, we have an opportunity to pour some beer in a booth and bring back some loot. Interested in helping? Richard Tapia got us into this one. ccharley@sbcglobal.net

I am certain I have forgotten something I promised to pass along. More coming soon. School is starting up and I remember the days of trying to get four kids outfitted. We would school shop while picking the kids up from summer in Montana. It took an extra ski box on the Suburban.
Good luck this next week!
Bill
