Where we stand right now
This picture was Monday morning after three inches fell overnight.

We are really in a pretty normal position and better off than lots of seasons. We have completed four days of instructor training, SkyKids and big kids Level Zero (so much cooler term than dryland training), and a bit of support member training. We have built two new lifts, one with snow on the ground, and even found new uniforms for the CSIs. We have new instructors and new Ski Patrol candidates but always need more. Come on and give it a go.

Still got a week to go in January and snow is on the way. Look at the chart below. Those are inches of snow. That's four feet at Sky Tavern. That will do nicely. Click the chart to read more from Bryan Allegretto, the guy in the know about snow.

Are we going to open this weekend? I don't know. We will need to manage and shape all the snow if it shows. It's a science, an art and a lot of work. I might be sending out a cry for shovelers. The groomer operators are ready, even our new ones. There is still a lot to do in the lodge such as get the rental gear out of it. The final word will be on Friday about the opening. The rule of thumb is you lose 10% accuracy for every day out. We are guessing right now.
