The word from the groomers

No snow at the top of the Sky Ridge chair lift. We have a couple of hundred feet of dirt between the get-off ramp and the snow. Game over, out of quarters for running the chairlift on Saturday. They will get the base area where the two new carpet lifts are, open.

The plan.
I have never been at Sky Tavern orientation day, Saturday, Jan 23rd, 10 AM

You have heard me say that most years we do lots of welcome to Sky Tavern meetings pre-season in town. Not a choice this year. We also do a short session for kids that have never been on snow. Let's get both of those done this Saturday. Being there is not a requirement but just a leg up for both kids and parents. Sorry for the late notice but this year requires a bit of a flexible attitude. If you are a first time family at Sky Tavern be there Saturday.

10 AM at Sky Tavern, 21130 MT Rose Hwy

Big kids. Age 6 and above that have never been on snow. This is your first lesson on the basics. Skis and boards on, off. Walking, moving, falling, getting up. Riding the new lifts. Learning the code, learning to laugh and smile while in the snow. It does matter and gets you a head start on the lessons. We call it dryland training because when I was a kid you went to Idlewild Park and skied on the goose poop. We have evolved! KIds bring your skis and board gear. You will be learning to ski and board! It lasts at the most an hour and a half.

We need instructors to pull this off, please. Time to go! Kids need you!

Also at 10 AM.
While the kids are learning we will take the new parents and get them up top speed on all things Sky Tavern. Everyone has a job, let's learn about them. New support members, time to learn to run a ski resort. Returning support members, if you have a few hours, come help the new ones. The plan is to break into groups for Q&A.

All this only takes a few hours. We will run the carpet lifts until everyone is done playing and maybe some new instructors are found. If CSIs want to teach some new instructors, Webster and Rocco are running. You can hike everywhere else.

SkyKid parents. You can add to your skills to teach the short ones. Just the parents this time if you can, please. 10 AM class with Kris and Eaton.

Mike and the crew are planning on staying out, moving snow to get as much open as possible. They are volunteers too and have real jobs during the day. If it snows this weekend, maybe Sunday will be an instructor training time. If not, watch Warren Miller movies on Netflix while wearing your PJs backward. Snow is coming next week. They will be doing midnight shifts 24/7.

Enter through the second driveway by Top of the Mountain Sports
The nice lady in pink and her crew will show you where to park. The top lot is reserved for volunteers that give a lot more than you can imagine and you will get to know through the year. Show up before 10 AM. Kids have to get gear on and be ready for class at 10. Show up at 10:01 and you are late!
Bring your badges!

We are moving gear out of the lodge Saturday back to its home in the containers. Please help.

thank you, it is starting, and it is a lot of fun,

Bill
